Meagan Good Responds to Negative Commenters Regarding Her BET Awards Gown

@adriannacolbert
That’s the thing Girl- is that I don’t feel convicted about this at all .,my spirit is saddened that our people only know one way to think and process things.. I’m not any less holy because the dress I wore -I may not be who people think I should be -but I’m morphing into exactly who God wants me to be.. My excuse is never “I’m going to do me” and I don’t feel that I need to make an excuse or defend or what I wore .. I know I have a responsibility -and I’m working daily to fulfill the full potential of all God has created me to be.. A dialogue was started about my character, integrity, my walk with God and my Husband -simply based on a dress that I wore.., Of course I’m going to have a reaction to people saying negative things… It’s just sad..

Makes me sad not regretful.. My heart and spirit is always open to whatever my Father would want to share with me… And my spirit tells me to be exactly who I authentically am -because that’s what’s going to reach who I was authentically designed to touch.. people like me who are often misunderstood and told their cut of God’s promise -because they don’t look the role …when God doesn’t care about us “looking the role”..he is always cared about bringing us in -and us being whatever we need to be to bring Those left out in .. And it just makes me sad that us as Christians can’t see beyond our initial reaction and don’t seek God before the attack other brothers and sisters …and never think for one moment that: God knows what he’s doing and he uses everything for his glory .. and he has a plan for every specific situation.. I had intentions on anything .. Merely picked a dress I saw and loved … God knows my heart and that I didn’t do anything wrong .. And he will use even people’s thoughts to bring him glory.

    1. Well read the bible instead of just hearing... It also says to dress in modestly. AND it says don't let your good be evil spoken of.. if it's going to vex someone else then you shouldn't do it.. JUST BECAUSE.. IT WILL LEAD SOMEONE ELSE WRONG. It wouldn't have taken away from her beauty to cover it up a little bit.

  6. I have seen comments saying she's dressed "like a whore" and what not, never mind the fact that "dressing like a whore" often coincides with wearing ankle length dresses in far too many churches which is probably why Jesus warned against judging by the outer appearance. I believe that contrary to church doctrine(the doctrines of MEN), God/Jesus doesn't have issues with how women dress; men who lack self-control do, however. If every woman wore a burqua, that would NOT change the heart of such men; just ask all the women being raped in cultures that require such dress. God/Christ is accessible to ALL; always has been, which is the MAIN message Jesus was trying to get across to the Pharisees(by-the-book) types. There are churches here in the US and in other parts of the world where women(and men) can wear what they want and/ or EVERYBODY wears NOTHING at all(yes there are churches in nudist colonies). Everyone has NOT been raised to be this desperately, terribly afraid of their own biology; neither have they been raised or taught to see a woman's boobs as merely sexual objects but as a symbol of the LIFE that they provide to the children of the earth. Everyone has a personal responsibility for what they chose to act on or not act on. Get over the human body (we all have one) and get over yourself and your self-righteous assumptions about women and how they relate and are "responsible to" men. MEN....Take some responsibility for yourself and stop placing the blame on people who don't even interact with you.
    I have male friends where I could be completely naked and they'd still respect me enough to look in my eyes(and before you even think it, they are not gay). That's not just responsibility; it is a mindset where you are able to see the body as more than a sexual thing, but a beautiful work of art handcrafted by GOD. It seems as though people who accept human sexuality are more able to value the body past merely its sexuality. The naked body should not appear to cause you as much lust and perverted thinking as it seems to do, and if so, that is your loss.
    BTW, her husband does not have a church but is requested to speak at many churches along with being an influential movie producer. What I love about this couple and "people like them" is that they are unafraid to be who they are and boldly proclaim their love for Christ.

  7. I know it's quick to judge people for what they have on but we as a christian shouldn't be able to give them ammunition to use it against us . I know as a woman of GOD and that the Holy Spirit lives inside of us an if we are in tone to the spirit of GOD he will bring conviction to your heart if you allow him to. I know we use he said come as you are and some time it take common sense to know that you shouldn't wear certain things out or in church. Then we use GOD knows my heart but that still doesn't excuse your behavior. When you know better you do better. There's know way you are able to lead someone to CHRIST like that. If you are a christian then live like you are and if you are to live like the world then live like the world you can't stratter the fence.

  8. We as Christians shouldn't judge or speak negetively about one another. We should lift each other up in prayer. Ever heard... love on them until they get there. Well I'm going to love on Mrs. Good but I'm also going to pray that God gives her wisdom as a leader within the body of Christ and direct her. The bible also says don't let your good be evil spoken of. I don't think the dress was appropriate. Your actions can sometimes misleding to others. The bible says what does it profit a man to gain the world and lose their souls..... NOTHING. So do we applaud because they're fashion savvy or do we pray for the ones that may have taken this the wrong way and in result out of place with God.

    1. Well the Bible also says "if your eye offends you pluck it out..." She was out with her husband so why should it be thought evil? I know when I'm out with my husband my clothing choices tend to be a bit more sexy for him to notice. For all others get to plucking because Jesus came that I might have an abundant life not for me to censor myself or abide by a made up idea of what is appropriate or "modest" in the minds of men. Jesus did NOT die for a dress code.

  9. While we are not called to judge one another and while there should not have been any attacks on you...the bible is very clear about certain things and that is...IF we are called to HIM....HE lives in US and everything we do ...everything we say, the way we dress, the way we handle ourselves, the way we talk to others, the things we think...everything is to REPRESENT the Holy Spirit withing and while you are looking hot...you are also EXPOSED ...and you do not present yourself as a woman of God, purity, holiness or any of the things that God explicitly calls us to be. You can dress it up any way you want....but looking like that simply isn't of God and further...while we are not to judge...we are called to rebuke, minister, teach and a whole host of other things. Would you go to church looking like that? A woman who wears a dress like that wants the WORLD to think of her a certain way....not that she is attempting to do the will of God and you just manipulate God's word with that letter you wrote.

    2. Remember when the Pharisees got down on Jesus when his disciples ate without washing their hands? This hoopla about a dress is similar:
      The Pharisees and some of the teachers of the law who had come from Jerusalem gathered around Jesus 2 and saw some of his disciples eating food with hands that were defiled, that is, unwashed. 3 (The Pharisees and all the Jews do not eat unless they give their hands a ceremonial washing, holding to the tradition of the elders. 4 When they come from the marketplace they do not eat unless they wash. And they observe many other traditions, such as the washing of cups, pitchers and kettles.[a])

      5 So the Pharisees and teachers of the law asked Jesus, “Why don’t your disciples live according to the TRADITION of the elders instead of eating their food with defiled hands?”

      6 He replied, “Isaiah was right when he prophesied about you hypocrites; as it is written:

      “‘These people honor me with their lips,
      but their hearts are far from me.
      7 They worship me in vain;
      their teachings are merely human rules.’[b]

      8 You have let go of the commands of God and are holding on to human traditions.”

    3. Mrs. Good is a beautiful young woman that is very confused. As a leader and you are because of whom you are married to, should know better than to imply that God was pleased with that dress. The Word is very clear on how we as Christians should carry ourselves. As women of God we do not expose ourselves to no man but our husbands in private. God know my heart. Yes, He does and as a Christian we are to know His heart too. "I beseech you therefore brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service" (Rom. 12:1). Reasonable service,unfortunately,common sense has left the room. Please people let's not take what we want as interpretations of God's Word or his intent. Come as you are, really.
